The trail was beginning to get much more interesting as we
attacked the hill.
|

Dan, Bill and I made it up and we came back to help Mike and the
others up.

The climb had two parts
with a small semi-flat area in between. While the first section had
lots of small rocks, the second section had several large rocks and
low hanging trees. After a few more minor climbs, we reached the
pass and began descending into the valley that Highway 4 runs along.
This was tricky as the shelf road had off camber sections that
tilted you towards a steep downhill slope. We also stopped to climb
on a big granite outcropping. |

After Dave came down, we realized there
was no one following him. Some Jeepers came down and told us they
had winched Mike off of a rock so the rest of the group was along
shortly thereafter. Bill and Dan did the obstacle in reverse while
we waited. |

The end of the trail was at the bottom of this
rock descent so we aired up the tires of those who aired down and headed
east on Highway 4 where we eventually hooked back up with Highway 88 to
head west to the turn-off. We arrived at camp 8 hours after we left,
around 7:30 pm. We stopped quite a bit on the trail, but we stretched it
into a day. We had a good time, the weather cooperated, and no one broke
anything. All in all, a good way to close out the year.
